Essential Oils to End Your Day

So the other day we were talking about how you can use Essential Oils in your morning routine as a way to help create the feelings you want in your space at that time of day. But what about the end of your day? If your own daily routine allows, you may be able to incorporate some or all of my own rituals, which I’ll share with you here, into your own evening rhythm. Ending your day well can make a huge difference to the next morning, and essential oils can support you in cultivating a restful, calm atmosphere leading into sleep.

You’ll notice that I link to doTERRA products and this is because, after trying several major essential oil brands, they are my favourite and my go-to. When you purchase through my links, I may earn a small commission, at no added cost to you.

Time to wind down

I have incorporated a variety of oils into my own evening routine to help me achieve a restful sleep.

First, I turn on my diffuser with a couple drops of Easy Air as well as a drop or two of Lavender. I rub a few drops of Spikenard – an oil that helps to relieve insomnia, stress and anxiety – on the bottoms of my feet, and listen to a few chapters of whatever book I currently have going on Audible.

Pro tip: Keep a bottle of water handy near your diffuser to make it super easy to refill and enjoy. I love the KORKEN bottles from IKEA – and they often release seasonal designs, a few of which I have around the house.

I love my Brevi Stone diffuser, pictured above, because of its small size, and the various time settings and colour options. (This one isn’t available anymore though but its equivalent is available with the Healthy Start Kit - more info on this kit below.) The other great one for your bedroom is the Dawn, which is a humidifier as well as a diffuser, and therefore takes up a bit more space.

Your own routine

Whether you’re just getting started using essential oils to support the end of your day, or looking to level up your existing routine, here are a few options you may want to explore:

Roman Chamomile promotes calm and relaxation. Apply to the back of the neck and gently rub in.

Vetiver is another one that I love. I like to diffuse this when I’m starting to wind down for the day as I find it very grounding and warm.

Copaiba helps to reduce anxiety. It’s great to rub a couple drops in your hands, cup your hands over your nose, and take a few long, deep breaths.

Most essential oil lines have a restful blend, such as Serenity, which combine the benefits of multiple oils into one product that you can integrate into your routine.

If you love an evening bath, there are lots of ways to use essential oils here too. The Adaptiv bath oil is one I love when I really need to de-stress.

Curious about Essential Oils and looking for more ideas as to how to incorporate them into your day to day life? I highly recommend the Healthy Start Kit. When you purchase it through my link, you’ll get access to Anchor, which is a quick, self-paced course created by my dear friend Ardelle, of Aromas and Avocados, to help you create every day habits with the essential oils included in the kit. This course is what helped me to move from buying random oils just because I liked the scent, to the more purposeful use of essential oils to impact my mood, the vibe in my home, and so much more.
