Petit Design Concept: Summerside Primary Bedroom

We don’t often get to do full before and after reveal posts for our Petit Design Concepts, but every so often our clients document the process and share their photos with us! This is one of those clients.

If you aren’t already familiar with the Petit Design Concept, it is our e-design offering. It’s one of the most cost-effective ways to get our expert design advice for your space. It’s a pretty simple process:

  1. You purchase a Petit Design Concept.

  2. We send you a survey.

  3. You fill out the survey and attach photos, measurements and a video of your space.

  4. We take that information and put together two options for you with layouts, renderings and links to specific items and inspiration.

  5. We email the design over to you.

  6. You implement the option (or combo of options) that you like best!

  7. Optional but awesome: you document the whole process and share it with us too!

Here’s what our client had to say about the experience:

I loved working with Kierstin Smyth Design. She is definitely my number one choice for an interior designer in Edmonton! Before working with Kierstin and her team, my bedroom felt dark, dated, and not like me at all. I was using very old furniture, or basic IKEA furniture. It was time for me to have a "grown up" bedroom that reflected me and my style. I chose to go with the Petit Design Concept and the whole process was amazing and easy. Kierstin and her team gathered a ton of information from me so that they could make suggestions based on my lifestyle and needs, and of course to accommodate my dog. The design options sent were exactly what I wanted and easy to follow and the final results are amazing! Now I have a bedroom that I am proud to show off and feels like me. It's a wonderful space for my dog and I to relax. It truly feels like home.

The Design Brief

In this Petit Design Concept, our client was looking to update her bedroom to a space she would truly love and feel good in. Her current space featured the paint colours (and pattern) from the previous owner, the carpet was worn in several areas and her furniture was nearing its end of life.

She wanted a space that felt like her; that felt grown up and pretty!

Here’s where the space started:

The Design Options

As always, we put together two options for a Petit Design Concept. We try to ensure that they work together so that it’s easy for our client to interchange elements. Along with the renderings, we also included all the links for each product we recommended and for this particular design, we also included our recommendations for new flooring too.

As you’ll soon see, she decided to combine elements of both designs to pull it all together in a way that worked best for her.

The End Result

Now, this primary bedroom feels so inviting, fresh and also relaxing. It’s a true sanctuary for our client and her pup.

We loved watching our client pull this all together, as she shared the process over Instagram. Painting both walls that had the pattern on previously was no easy feat!

And no - you don’t have to have a pair for all of your pillows - you can totally mix it up!

The new vinyl plank flooring was also a game-changer for this space. It brings so much more character and warmth, especially combined with the jute rug.

And it wouldn’t be one of our blog posts if we didn’t feature our client’s fur babies!

But seriously, we love how the space came together and how our client added her personal touches to the design. The desire for a grown up and pretty bedroom was achieved!

So what do you think? Is it time for a refresh of your bedroom (or another space in your home)?

In addition to our easy and affordable Petit Design Concept, we also offer full service redesign packages if the DIY direction isn’t for you. Get in touch to discuss the option that’s best for you!
